The University of Rhode Island Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a nonprofit organization established to support, empower, and advocate for graduate students across all disciplines at the University of Rhode Island.
We believe graduate education is not just about research—it’s about community, leadership, and collaboration. Our association works to ensure that every graduate student has access to the resources, representation, and opportunities they need to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of graduate education and student life at the University of Rhode Island by:
- Advocating for graduate student needs and rights.
- Funding academic and professional development opportunities.
- Building a collaborative community through events and outreach.
- Supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all academic spaces.
- Promoting responsible leadership and engagement within the university community.

- Funding & Grants: We provide travel awards, conference funding, and research support for graduate students presenting or publishing their work.
- Events & Networking: We organize workshops, seminars, and social gatherings to connect graduate students with peers, faculty, and alumni.
- Advocacy & Representation: GSA serves as the official voice of graduate students in university governance and policy discussions.
- Community Engagement: Through volunteer initiatives and partnerships, we extend our impact beyond campus into the Rhode Island community.
As a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, contributions to the University of Rhode Island Graduate Student Association are tax-deductible under IRS rules.
